Junior League of Bakersfield recently dedicated a training room for their Girls Achievement Program (GAP) at the Junior League Community Center. This new, state-of-the-art training room was specifically designed to provide GAP participants a safe, comfortable place to develop life skills and positive self-expression.
Now in its third year, GAP is an emancipation preparation skills project conducted by members of the Junior League of Bakersfield. This program aims to prepare young pre-emancipation foster girls for a healthy and successful transition into independent living. GAP currently serves 15-20 young women ages 13-18 on Monday nights, twice a month, from September to April.
