County Names New Animal Control Director

Jen Woodard, chief of the Best Friends Pet Adoption Center and Spay/Neuter Clinic in Los Angeles, has been appointed as Kern County Animal Control Director effective October 1 following a nationwide search.

Board of Supervisors Chairman Zack Scrivner said Woodard’s ability to enlist broad community support while swiftly organizing and managing full-scale animal adoption and clinic operations will be key assets.

“We are very pleased to welcome Jen Woodard to Kern County,” Scrivner said. “Ms. Woodard has an outstanding record of achieving the same goals that our Board wants to attain: saving animals and educating people. We know she will bring our animal control program to the next level.”

Woodard earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Cornell University, a Master of Science in Wildlife Ecology from State University of New York at Syracuse, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix.
