The Bakersfield College of Performing Arts presents the Aristophanes’ Greek comedy, The Birds. Paying tribute to ancient Greek Theatre, all performances will take place outdoors, with live music, singing and dancing.
The cast will include several actors portraying various birds. “When Aristophanes performed his play back in 414 BC, he had a bird chorus of 24 birds,” said BC professor Kimberly Chin. “Our production will only have a dozen since we don’t have the budget that Aristophanes had.”
The Birds will be performed April 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, and 28. All shows start at 5 p.m. and end just before sundown. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $3.50 for students/staff/seniors/military and $5.50 for general admission, available at the door. Children under 6 will not be admitted.
