The City of Bakersfield will temporarily close the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center from now through December 20th, so that improvements can be made including new tile and carpet throughout the whole facility. The MLK Center will reopen on December 23rd with limited hours due to the holidays. The Kwanzaa event will still be held at the facility on Friday December 27th from 1 to 4 pm.
During the temporary closure, the Youth Academy class will be relocated to the Stop the Violence building located just north of the MLK Center.
