Free Summer Meals for Children Across Kern County

Kern County Family Magazine has gathered locations across Kern County that are participating in the Free Summer Meals Program, a federally funded program that provides meals for children under 18 years of age. Check out the locations below for more information.

Bakersfield City School District

The Bakersfield City School District is pleased to announce our summer feeding program which will begin on June 13, 2016. Thanks to a federally funded program, summer meals will be served free to all children ages 1-18 years of age and under the times and places listed below. Enrollment in summer school is not required. Meals are not restricted to persons living in the area of the serving site; children from all areas and school districts are welcome. Federal regulations state that food served to participating children cannot be given to or shared with anyone. Proof of age may be required. However, persons 19 years of age or older may purchase a meal at a nominal cost.

Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County announce the participation in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the California Department of Education. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the mean service.

Through SFSP over 40,000 nutritious and well balanced meals will be provided monthly during the summer (June 6, 2016 to August 16, 2016) to the children and youth at the following participating Boys & Girls Clubs:

Community Action Partnership of Kern

In order to ensure the nutritional needs of underage children and youth are met during the months they are away from school for summer break, Community Action Partnership of Kern would like to announce the dates and locations of its 2016 Summer Food Service Program.

Free meals will be provided to all children 18 years of age and younger at the sites listed below. The program will run from Monday, June 6, through Friday, July 29, 2016 (except holidays).

Standard School District

Your children can receive free meals! Thanks to a federally funded program, all children 18 years of age or younger can receive a nutritious meal free of charge at Standard Elementary. You may bring your children, or they may come with their brothers, sisters or friends. Children do not have to attend Standard School in order to receive free emails. Federal regulations stipulate that children cannot share meals with persons older than 19 years of age; however, meals for this age group can be bought at nominal cost.
