The League of Dreams Annual Gala Dinner

Join the League of Dreams for its Annual Gala Dinner and Auction in an outdoor setting with socially-distanced seating on Saturday, March 20 at 5:30 p.m. at Salty's BBQ Banquet Center, 6720 Schirra Court. The night will also feature live music performed by Jon Ranger.

Funds raised during the night will benefit the League of Dreams. This nonprofit gives every child the chance to play by providing sports training, team camaraderie, and competitive sporting opportunities to athletes with physical and developmental disabilities. To date, the League of Dreams has given hundreds of athletes a chance to play such sports as baseball, basketball, bowling, and so many more.

JJ's Legacy Hosts Live Television Broadcast on March 13, 2021

You could help save a life by tuning in and supporting JJ's Legacy's Live Television Broadcast on KGET, Channel 17, Saturday, March 13, 2021, from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM, followed by The Day of Golfon Monday, March 15, 2021 at Seven Oaks Country Club. All funds raised during this event will assist those waiting and those that have had a life-saving transplant in Kern County to receive medical and financial assistance throughout their respective journeys. The annual JJ's Legacy Gala and Golf Tournament stands as one of Kern County's premier fundraising events. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this event has been modified into an exciting Live Television Broadcast. This broadcast can be viewed on channel 17 KGET or a livestream will be available on the KGET Facebook page.

The mission of JJ's Legacy honors Jeffrey "JJ" Johns by educating Kern County residents about the value and importance of organ, eye and tissue donation, increasing the number of registered donors, and providing compassionate support to donor and recipient families.

The Live Television Broadcast will feature many stories from the past, showcase the nonprofit's present endeavors, as well as share its goals for a successful future to help more people and save lives in Kern County. During the event, there will be an online auction filled with amazing items that will be open from March 9th till March 16th, where you can bid on items and donate towards JJ's Legacy's programs. CASA of Kern County Opens New Clubhouse

CASA of Kern County unveils its new CASA Clubhouse, a dedicated child and advocate visiting center, with an open house on Thursday, March 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 1705 Columbus Street, next to the CASA office. This nonprofit helps to give the approximately 1,500 children in foster care in Kern County a voice in the juvenile court process. The Clubhouse will be a tribute to the thousands of children who have had a CASA Volunteer help them and the community support behind them.

Tickets to attend in person are $50, with limited capacity to follow COVID 19 social distancing requirements, and a virtual attendance option is available. For more information, please visit www.kerncasa.org.

The Historic Fox Theater has just announced an encore of its concert series, Live Stream Vaccine: The Second Dose, which will feature live music on various nights throughout May from local bands. Partnering again with 23ABC Bakersfield, the first concert is music artists Big Elk, Gregor Ross, and Chris Elkins on Friday, March 12 at 7p.m. with 23ABC's OTT/APP stream, which is free to watch on your phone, tablet, and/or television with an internet connection, and live on the Historic Fox Theater's Facebook page.
