Camp Blue Jay

The Society for Disabled Children’s Camp Blue Jay in the Tehachapi Mountains was established in 1975 to provide disabled children throughout Kern County an opportunity to attend a local summer camp. Children attending camp have an opportunity to experience activities usually unavailable to them such as swimming, fishing, horseback riding, and crafts.

The Painted Turtle

The Painted Turtle is a place where children with serious medical conditions celebrate just being kids! Through innovative, camp-based programs that offer a great big dose of fun and support, children with more than 30 medical conditions participate.

Located in Southern California’s beautiful San Bernardino Mountains and operated by AbilityFirst since 1947, Camp Paivika has helped thousands of children and adults with disabilities make friends, try new things, and become more confident and independent.

Bearskin Meadows Diabetic Camp

The Diabetic Youth Foundation’s (DYF) program is designed for kids looking for an independent camp experience filled with fun and adventure. Campers are grouped with 8-10 other kids their own age and live on a deck with 2-3 counselors at least one of whom has diabetes.

Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation Champ Camp

Champ Camp is a week-long, residential summer camp experience at Wonder Valley in Sanger, California, for child burn survivors ages 5-16, who have been treated at California hospitals or are current residents of California. Fully staffed by medical doctors, nurses, program staff, volunteers and counselors – many of whom are also burn unit nurses, burn doctors, adult burn survivors and firefighters – the camp provides a safe environment where burn survivors can play, learn, grow, gain self-esteem, and make new friends. The Bakersfield Firefighter’s Burn Foundation sponsors local burn survivors to attend this camp annually.
