Local Brownie Troop Helps Newborn Babies

Local Girl Scout Troop 112 recently donated blankets for newborn babies at San Joaquin Community Hospital's new nine-bed neonatal intensive care unit. The scouts dedicated a portion of the funds they raised through this year's cookie sales to buy fleece to make these blankets.

This action awards the members of Troop 112 the final key in their Brownie Quest program. In 2008, the Girl Scouts of America introduced new "journeys" for each level of Girl Scouts encouraging girls to "Explore, Link Arms & Fly into Action." With this program, they earn three keys: the first is the Discovery Key where they discover their talents; the second is the Connect Key where they connect with their fellow Brownies; and the third key is the Take Action Key where they work together on a community service project.
