Project Linus's local chapter donates hundreds of blankets each month to Kern County children. Please join this worthwhile cause at their Community Make-A-Blanket Day on September 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the LDS Church at 5500 Fruitvale Avenue.
No matter what your level of sewing expertise or lack thereof, volunteers are needed to perform all types of different tasks including coloring quilt squares, labeling, and bagging blankets. Project Linus is also in need of 1 Ĺ yard lengths of kid-friendly flannel, fleece, or cotton fabric and batting (not stuffing).
An all-volunteer organization, Project Linus provides comfort through handmade blankets which are given to seriously ill and traumatized children. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month, and participants bring their own blanket-making project or help with some of the projects in progress.
