Clock Tower Holidays at Kern County Museum

Kick off your holiday season with Clock Tower Holidays at the Kern County Museum. Enjoy 10 12-feet-tall trees beautifully decorated to fit in with this year's theme, "My Favorite Things." The exhibit will run through December 30, and feature trees decorated with favorite "things" such as baseball, shopping, pets, vintage sci-fi, the beach, and more.

Take a trip to holiday celebrations of the past with the museum's Holiday Lamplight Tours on Saturday, December 5, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. This event includes over 100 old-fashioned lanterns, Old West encampments, and beautifully dressed costumed interpreters. Enjoy a night of strolling carolers, bell choirs, and festive decorations. Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children; members price is $4.00 for adults, $3.00 for children.

"My favorite event is Lamplight Tours," says Jeff Nickell, Kern County Museum Director. "Where else can you go back in time in a 16-acre village and experience life as it was with hand-bell choirs, strolling minstrels, carriage rides, and tours of our wonderful historic homes and businesses?"

At the Lori Brock Children's Discovery Center, another holiday event, Cookies at the Clock Tower, on Saturday, December 19 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., gives children of all ages a chance to do holiday craft activities with plenty of cookies and hot chocolate. The day will include raffle prizes, family activities, magicians, and visits with Santa. Admission is $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for children; members are admitted free.
