The Center for Cultural Interchange and its Academic Year Program offers students the chance to be fully immersed in a cultural experience that includes connecting with a host family in the U.S., attending high school and experiencing life as a teenager in America first-hand.

For the last few years, CCI has struggled to find families to host these students for the year as the economy has been unstable and many families are finding it hard to make this commitment. Yet host families do not pay for the program they simply provide a room for the student and a great environment where cultural exchange can take place.

With all the strife in the world, it's a wonderful way to open up a window to the world and help to educate each other about our own cultural differences, as well as our similarities.

The Center for Cultural Interchange is looking for families to host foreign exchange students for the upcoming 2010-11 school year. CCI needs to place 1,000 foreign exchange students all of whom are 15- to 18-years-old and proficient in English from more than 40 countries around the world.

If you are interested in opening a window to the world for a foreign student and your own children call CCI's toll-free information number at 800-634-4771 or visit for more information. The deadline for families to apply to host an AYP student is August 31.
