Art for Healing, a project of Mercy Hospitals of Bakersfield, seeks to create a comfortable space where you can experience art-making, creativity, music, dance, and theatrical improvisation activities that may help in the release of stress and anxiety resulting from illness, loss, grief, or caring for another. Through December, a variety of classes will be offered free and open to the public for you to express your creativity and experience the healing power of art.

Available through a grant provided by the Sisters of Mercy, West Midwest Community, classes include "Spontaneous Expression with Paint," "Iconography," "Your Creative Muse,""Memory Stone Mosaic," and many more. Some classes may require a small fee for materials, but scholarships are available. No experience is necessary for any of these programs. All classes are located in the newly dedicated Mercy Art and Spirituality Center next door to the Mercy MRI building at Truxtun and A Streets.

Space is limited, so make your reservations early. For more information, please visit or call 661-324-7070.
