Community Make-a-Blanket Day
Join Project Linus on Saturday, September 11, for its commemorative Community Make-A-Blanket Day to honor the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. Volunteers will make blankets to help Kern County children from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the LDS Church at 5500 Fruitvale Avenue. The day will also include a short program to pay tribute to these great Americans.
No matter what your level of sewing expertise or lack thereof, volunteers are needed to perform all types of different tasks including coloring quilt squares, labeling, and bagging blankets. An all-volunteer organization, Project Linus provides comfort through handmade blankets which are given to seriously ill and traumatized children. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month, and participants bring their own blanket-making project or help with some of the projects in progress.
