Run Benefits Local Teen

A community 5K run will be held on Saturday, October 16 to benefit Tyler Schilhabel, the 16-year-old Independence High School quarterback, who was paralyzed from the chest down over Labor Day weekend in an ATV accident. "Shilhabel Strong" 5K run and one-mile walk at Independence High School begins at 9:00 a.m. with registration at 7:00 a.m.; pre-registeration $20, race day registration $25.

The 5K will run a loop beginning and ending on the football field. The course will go around campus on grass, dirt, and pavement. This event will be timed with medals for the top finishers in each bracket. Families and children can easily participate in the one-mile walk, which will not be timed.

Tyler was recently transferred from Stanford to Downey, California, where he begins the long journey of rehabilitation. His family thanks the local community and Independence High School for its unbelievable support, prayers, and kind donations. Registration and information can be found on www.schilhabelstrong.blogspot.com.
