BOYS & GIRLS CLUB RECEIVES GRANT FROM BANK OF AMERICA

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County recently received a $7,500 grant awarded from Bank of America. This grant will allow the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County to offer additional school-age youth the ability to attend the after-school program at a reduced cost or for free. These youth will attend its after-school program at the Boys & Girls Club's East Bakersfield site (Armstrong Youth Center). The Club serves as a safe haven within neighborhoods in which crime rates are high and the time after school exposes youngsters to illegal activities and violence.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Kern County have four Clubs and 35 school sites in Bakersfield, Lamont, and Frazier Mountain. Every day, 4,000 youth are effected in a positive way through their involvement with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County.
