Join Pump It Up of Bakersfield, along with more than 150 other locations across the country, to raise awareness for April's Autism Awareness Month with two events on April 7, 2011.

Pump It Up will introduce its Sensory Jump Time program from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., developed in conjunction with Autism Speaks, which caters specifically to the needs of children with autism. During this program, its trained staff will lead games that have been deemed appropriate for children with autism, and alter its facility lights, music, and procedures to provide a safe and fun sensory environment for guests on the autism spectrum. The debut event is free to children with autism and their families.

"The Sensory Jump Time provides children with autism the perfect environment to work on their social skills and gross motor skills in a non-threatening environment," said Rick Slocum, owner of Pump It Up of Bakersfield. "We're proud to work with Autism Speaks to offer a program that can aid in therapies for children with autism."

Later in the evening, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, join in the The 3rd Annual Great Open Jump. With a suggested donation, families will enjoy open play time on the giant, inflatable structures that stand nearly two stories high. Pump It Up of Bakersfield will also offer Puzzle Piece contribution cards throughout the entire month of April for a recommended donation. All proceeds will benefit Autism Speaks.
