MOPS Craft Project: Olive Knolls Church
Even with a recent fire at Olive Knolls Church that caused $1 million in damages, this Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group continues to provide support and friendship to each other. MOPS is designed to nurture EVERY mother with children from infancy through kindergarten. Olive Knolls MOPS members come from all walks of life: single moms, married moms, teen moms, widowed moms, stay –at-home moms, and working moms. This MOPS group has seven different churches represented in their MOPS group and some members who do not belong to any church, but they all share one desire—to be great moms! At MOPS, you’ll be welcomed, accepted and inspired to reach your full potential and recognize your influence within your family and the world!
Olive Knolls Church is the first to offer MomsNext, a ministry for the next chapter- Moms with Elementary kids. For more information on this group, please contact Olive Knolls Church (661) 399-3303 .
Large craft sticks (popsicle sticks) • a bucket: We found ours at Michaels Craft Store in their dollar section. Target’s dollar bins usually have pails too (or you can use an empty tin can, flower pot, mason jar...whatever really) • scrap paper • markers • stickers • scissors • double sided tape • ribbon • dried beans
Step 1: Use a permanent marker to write on the bucket the words “Prayer Pail”. Feel free to decorate the back as well with some stickers, verses on prayer, or anything else you would like!
Step 2: Write the names of friends, family, and any other people or things you want to be praying for on the craft sticks with permanent markers and place in your bucket. Add some dried beans to help the prayer sticks stay in place. Some ideas: the names of Friends and Family, our church, our neighbors, our city, thank Him, praise Him, you choose (they can pick anything they want to pray about)
Step 3: Cut a bunch of ribbon pieces and tie on the handle to spice things up a bit. Yeah! You’re done!
Prayer Pails: Prayer Pails for our children: Before dinner let each child pick one stick out of the prayer pail. Let them each pray for the person or place that is on the stick. Kids LOVE this! Instead of just covering the “basics,” so to speak at prayer time, this allows children to be able to create a relationship with God and know that any request no matter how big or how small can be made by them. (Deuteronomy 6:1-9)
