Chevron Honors Retired Educator

Retiring Kern County Superintendent of Schools Administrator Pat Alexander insisted there be no gifts at her farewell reception. But, there was one gift she couldn't refuse: Chevron's Adam Alvidrez presented a $25,000 check in tribute to Alexander's four decades of service to public education and Kern County children. The money is earmarked to offset costs for "Kern County College Night," "Do The Math" a televised math tutorial service and the "We the People" student competition.

"Pat has been a great administrator for the county superintendent. Through her leadership, science, technology, and career education was made a top priority for the kids of Kern County. Chevron appreciates what Pat has done and looks forward to finding new ways to sustain our partnership with the Kern County Superintendent of Schools," says Alvidrez, Chevron's public affairs representative and community outreach coordinator.

Alexander began her four-decade career as a teacher at South Fork School in Lake Isabella. She later joined the Kernville Union School District. In 1979, she became superintendent-principal-teacher of the Buena Vista School District which now is part of the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District. She joined the Beardsley School District in 1986 and in 1990 the Kern County Superintendent of Schools as substance abuse prevention coordinator. She later was promoted to Director, Curriculum and Instruction and subsequently to Administrator, Division of Instructional Services.
