September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

yellow_ribbon
In America, 46 children every day are diagnosed with cancer. September is designated as National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to help fight against cancer and create awareness. A local nonprofit, Second Star to the Right, encourages all residents to wear or display gold ribbons in support of the more than 50 children in Kern County who are battling pediatric cancer.

Second Star to the Right started in honor of Kayla Blair, who lost her battle with a rare form of brain cancer known as AT/RT at the tender age of 27 months old. This organization raises funds for research and assists local families with emotional and financial support. For more information, please visit www.secondstartotheright.org.
