CSUB Chemistry Department's Chemical Circus Receives Grant

Thanks to a $10,000 grant, the Chemistry Department at California State University, Bakersfield will now get to take its Chemical Circus on tour to reach more children through its interactive, hands-on science program.  CSUB’s program is one of nine winners in a nationwide competition to receive funding from “Partnership for Excellence:  Innovations in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education,” hosted by Ashoka Changemakers, Carnegie Corporation of New York, and The Opportunity Equation.

CSUB’s Chemistry Department received the Innovations in Life Sciences Prize sponsored by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.  The money will allow the department to purchase materials, develop demonstrations, and pay senior undergraduate students to train and work as program leaders.

For more information, please contact Dr. Danielle Solano at 661-654-2785 or email her at dsolano@csub.edu.  You can also visit www.changemakers.com/stemeducation for details about the Partnering for Excellence grant.
