Mercy and Memorial Hospitals Sponsor the Go Red Survivor Gallery and Luncheon

Heart disease is the number one killer of women, taking the life of one in three women each year.  To help fight against this disease, Mercy and Memorial Hospitals will sponsor this year’s Go Red for Women Luncheon on Thursday, February 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Marriott at the Convention Center, 801 Truxtun Avenue.  This event will also feature a survivor gallery that showcases moving stories of local heart disease survivors, a fashion show, and silent auction.

The Go Red Survivor Gallery will help to inspire the public and educate women as it is prominently displayed in Mercy and Memorial Hospitals throughout the year.  The hospitals also announced a new HeartCaring program committed to fighting this disease amongst women.

“Mercy and Memorial Hospitals are privileged to be a part of a new program launching this year that is committed to raising awareness about the unique differences in cardiovascular care for women,” says Robin Scott, Director of Strategic Marketing for Mercy and Memorial Hospitals.  “Through our HeartCaring program, women will learn more about detection, treatment, and care for themselves and their families.”

American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement offers educational programs to advance women’s understanding of their risk for heart disease and provides tools and motivation to help women reduce their risk and live Healthier, stronger lives.
