The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County was recently awarded two Office of Justice Program (OJP) mentoring grants totaling $54,000 through the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The purpose of the funding is to positively impact the lives of current and new Club members through strengthening, enhancing and expanding of Boys & Girls Clubs mentoring programs for at-risk youth residing in distressed areas.
“Boys & Girls Clubs is increasingly playing a vital role in many young peoples’ lives,” said Zane Smith, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County. “In today’s economic climate, we offer a positive place after school for children whose parents are seeking a safe and enriching environment for their children.”

Anyone interested in being a mentor is encouraged to attend a volunteer mentor orientation at the Armstrong Youth Center on Tuesday February 5th or Tuesday February 19th, at 5:00 p.m.
