Kern County Animal Services to Offer Fee-Waived Adoptions on June 7th During 2nd Annual California Adopt-A-Pet Day.

This Saturday, June 7th, Kern County Animal Services (KCAS) will join more than 150 California animal shelters in holding a fee-waived adoption event as part of the second annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day, hosted by the California Animal Welfare Association (CalAnimals), the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SF SPCA), and the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®)

The inaugural California Adopt-a-Pet Day event last year was a huge success, with 3,609 animals adopted in one day across the state, far outpacing the goal of 2,024 adoptions. Event organizers have raised the bar for 2025, with a more than doubled goal of finding loving homes for 5,000 dogs, cats, horses, and other small animals. To help reach this goal, the ASPCA will cover the cost of most of these fee-waived adoptions statewide.

Here in the Bakersfield area, adopting a pet from Kern County Animal Services comes with many benefits. Every animal adopted from KCAS is vaccinated, spayed or neutered, microchipped, and licensed before they go home. As a result, individuals, families, and their new pets are set up for a happy, healthy life together.

Additionally, the staff at Kern County Animal Services is always happy to help you find a pet that fits your lifestyle, family, and home

Kern County Animal Services is located at 3951 Fruitvale Avenue in Bakersfield, California. Their two large rooms, full of hundreds of adoptable pets, are open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. To view their selection of adoptable dogs at any time, visit them online at www.kerncountyanimalservices.org.
