Kids’ rooms get messy fast, and the idea of spring cleaning can feel overwhelming with so much to sort through.

Why It Feels Hard? Kids’ rooms are unique. Cleaning your kids’ room feels hard because their spaces change as quickly as they do, making the clutter feel constant and ever‑shifting.

Why It Matters? Parents usually focus on daily tidying, but sometimes the room needs a deeper reset. Spring cleaning your kids’ room helps because it resets the space to match their current needs and gives everything a fresh, functional start.

Spring cleaning is a process, and spreading the work out makes it manageable and helps create a cleaner, more comfortable space for your child. Here are some steps to get the job done:
  1. Declutter: Remove anything your child no longer uses, keeping only toys they actually play with, clothes that fit, and items in good condition while donating or tossing the rest.
  2. Organize: Organize what’s left by using the storage you already have—bins, baskets, shelves—then note any gaps so you only buy new organizers after everything is sorted.
  3. Deep Clean the Room: Dust and wipe all surfaces, vacuum or mop the floors (including corners and under furniture), wash all bedding and swap out seasonal items, and finish by cleaning the windows, sills, tracks, screens, blinds, and curtains to refresh the entire space at once.
  4. Refresh Furniture and Bedding: Rotate or flip the mattress if recommended, check whether it needs replacing, and then inspect all furniture—cleaning stains, polishing surfaces, making small repairs, and noting anything your child has outgrown or may need replaced.
  5. Refresh the Air and Reset the Space: Open windows to bring in fresh air, clean or replace any air filters, and then take a moment to evaluate the room’s layout—rearranging furniture or creating new zones to make the space feel more functional and restful.

Bonus Tip: Take a moment to ensure the room is safe by testing smoke detectors, checking age-appropriate childproofing, confirming furniture is anchored, verifying the crib setup is secure, and making sure all windows are properly locked.
