Adventist Health Continues 30-Year Tradition of Providing Free Children’s Immunizations to Kern County Communities

BAKERSFIELD, CA — This year, Adventist Health is marking a milestone achievement with the 30th anniversary of its Children’s Mobile Immunization Program. Since March 1996, the program has provided free children’s immunizations, health screenings, and health education to families in Kern County.

In 2001, Adventist Health partnered with First 5 Kern, which provides funding to support the program. Through this partnership, the program utilizes a mobile unit that visits the uninsured, underinsured, and hard-to-reach populations throughout Kern County, ensuring families receive access to essential vaccinations for preventable diseases.

The free clinics are available to children under the age of 18 and who are uninsured, enrolled in Medi-Cal (Medi-Cal card required), or are of American Indian or Native Alaskan descent.

Parents with children over the age of five may make an appointment by calling 661-869-6740. No appointments are necessary for children five or younger. Children who are under the age of five and their siblings will be given priority due to grant funding from First 5 Kern. Immunization cards are required for all visits.

Free Hemoglobin testing is available for children and expectant or postpartum mothers (WIC, school, or doctor’s referral required).
