Taft College is proud to announce its upcoming art exhibit, "Burned Books," a compelling exploration of the theme of banned knowledge through history and contemporary art. The exhibit aims to spark conversation and reflection on the importance of intellectual freedom and the enduring fight against censorship.
"Burned Books" delves into the historical narrative of books and manuscripts that have been destroyed throughout history. The exhibit features a combination of historical prints and thought-provoking artworks created by Taft College students and regional artists. These works examine the powerful theme of banned knowledge and its impact on society.
The opening reception for "Burned Books" is scheduled for September 12, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This special event is open to the public and offers a unique opportunity to engage with the historical and artistic perspectives on censorship and the suppression of ideas.
The exhibit will run from September 9 to October 10, 2024, at the Taft College Art Gallery, located at 29 Cougar Ct, Taft, CA 93268, in T11.
The gallery will be open to visitors from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Thursday.
