This Valentine’s Day, you can turn simple fruit into a fun, hands‑on activity for kids and a charming treat for the whole family. Whether you enjoy them plain or dipped in chocolate, they’re an easy way to add a little love—and a lot of smiles—to your celebration.

Strawberry Hearts

Equipment:
  • small, wooden sticks

Ingredients:
  • 2 lbs. fresh strawberries, medium to large
  • 2 cups dark or milk chocolate chips
  • Optional for decorating: white chocolate drizzles, sprinkles, edible glitter, nuts

Instructions:
  1. Rinse and gently pat dry fresh strawberries.
  2. With a small, sharp knife, in a circular motion, carve out the stem of the strawberry. See image above.
  3. Slice the strawberry in half.
  4. At the top center of each of the berry halves, cut a small V-shape.
  5. Gently insert a wooden stick at the bottom of the heart shape.
  6. Heat the chocolate chips in the microwave for 30 seconds. Repeat in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  7. Dip strawberries in melted chocolate. Let them dry on parchment paper until the chocolate firms.
  8. Decorate and enjoy!
